7 Easy Steps to Remove Makeup

Most of us do makeup on a daily basis. It makes us look beautiful by hiding the imperfections and highlighting our assets. At the end of a long, exhausting day, it is indeed a thing to remove makeup. Leaving makeup overnight and sleeping with makeup clogs the pores which causes acne and leads to skin breakouts. It also makes the eyelashes dry and cause chapped lips. Despite our love for clean, glowing skin, removing makeup is a chore which is often neglected by many. Removal of makeup is also an art just like putting on makeup, the process of taking your day’s makeup off is very important. Here are few tips to remove makeup which helps you to get a perfectly makeup free face.
1. Tie up your hair
First and foremost step to remove makeup it to tie your hair before you actually start removing makeup. This will helps to prevent wetting your hair and to concentrate on face and eye makeup removal. It also helps to remove makeup completely on the forehead and near the hairline.
2. Take an extra care to eye remove makeup

There is a need for taking extra care while removing eye makeup because eye region is far more sensitive than the skin. Eye makeup should be removed using a soft flat cotton pad instead of wipes. Dab some micellar water over the pad and apply it over the eyes and lashes. Let it sit for a while, this helps dissolve the product. Next, wash with a good cleanser and moisturiser. Remove the eyeshadow, kajal, eyeliner and mascara using the same.
3. Remove lip colour

Your lip color may have mostly worn off by bedtime, but that doesn’t mean you should skip using makeup remover on your lips. A cotton pad soaked in liquid or cream makeup remover should take off most lipsticks. You need an oily formula only if the lipstick is long-wearing or intensely pigmented. You can also use petroleum jelly on your lips. Let it stay for 5 minutes. Take a round cotton pad, gently press it on your lips and slide it off. This removes even the darkest of lip colors. Lastly, exfoliate and moisturise your lips. Exfoliating will remove any remaining color tint or flakes, Moisturizing will keep your lips soft and healthy so your pout is lipstick-ready when you wake up. Sometimes olive oil and coconut can also be used.
4. Steam your face

Steaming your face is an effective step in makeup removal, this helps in opening the pores there by removing dirt from your face. You can also use a steamer or if you cannot afford the time, you can use a hot towel. Open pores make the cleansing process easy which helps in makeup removal.
5. Remove facial makeup
Apply facial makeup removers to your entire face and gently remove the makeup with the help of a cotton cloth or a flat cotton pad followed by a cleanser.
6. Cleansing

An oil-based cleanser is usually best to thoroughly break product down, and excess dirt from the air as most makeup is made with oil. This fresh cleanser is a great way to leave the skin feeling soft and radiant, it will even remove waterproof makeup as well. apply 2 full pumps of cleansing oil to your skin and start massaging it in a circular motion covering all areas including the eyes. After about a minute add water and start massaging in and rinse off.
Now that all the topical makeup and impurities are removed, grab a foaming cleanser for more invigorating cleanse. This helps for deep cleaning of pores and to take off non-visible makeup. After complete rinsing with lukewarm water use a clean towel and gently pat your face dry
7. Moisturizer for hydrated skin

This is the last and important step to hydrate the skin. Even if you don’t have dry skin, makeup removal should always be followed up with this. Apply your regular moisturizer to cover your entire face and massage it in a circular motion till it completely gets absorbed. Also apply lip balm for lips.
